William E. "Bill" Swisher, 77, died Thursday at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born in Blue Island, IL to the late Jack & Marion (Funk) Swisher. Although born in Blue Island, he was raised in Tinley Park, IL. He married Joan Sullentrop on April 28, 1973 in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and showed his love to all.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Swisher of Ft. Wayne; sons, Michael Swisher of Anchorage, AK and Joseph Swisher of Nashville, TN; daughter, Kristin (Tom) Alvarez of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Rick (Lisa Ray) Lemieux of Montgomery, AL, Elizabeth (Dan) Zurek of Nashville, TN, and Emily Swisher of Ft. Wayne; sisters, Fran (Bill) Anderson of Brandon, Manitoba, CA; Kay (Bob) Goers of Aiken, SC and Janice (Bill) Rueter of Palm City, FL.
Bill worked as a food broker for 47 years and also as a courier for Tower Bank for 8 years. He was a member of Woodburn Missionary Church, loved all sports including playing golf. His favorite team would be the Green Bay Packers. He also loved to work in his yard and garden.
Calling will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 2-5 & 7-9 pm at Woodburn Missionary Church (5108 Bull Rapids Road, Woodburn, IN 46797). Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11 am with calling one hour prior at the church with Pastor Bert Jones officiating. Burial in Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, IN.
