Virgil Fiedler, 77, died Wednesday at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina while on vacation. He was born in Gar Creek, IN to the late William E. & Erna E. (Lange) Fiedler. He married Beverly Clark on April 13, 1957 in Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Ft. Wayne, IN. Surviving are his wife of 56 1/2 years, Beverly Fiedler of Spencerville, IN; a son, Richard Fiedler of Spencerville; a daughter, June Dold of Buffalo, NY; 2 grandchildren, Christopher (Becca) Fiedler of Kendallville and Jessica Fiedler of Coldwater, MI; 4 great grandchildren, Canaan, Larealeigh, Natalee and Jeremiah, Jr.; a sister, Phyllis Laudahn of Auburn; a brother-in-law, Larry Clark of Columbus, OH; 2 aunts, Shirley Rigor of Spencerville and Mary Rugg of Arizona and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, LaVerne Fiedler & a nephew. Virgil worked in construction for 25 years with Arnos & Fiedler Construction and then retired from DeKalb Eastern School Corporation after approx. 25 years as Maintenance Supervisor. He was an Army Veteran, a member of the Butler American Legion and Leo United Methodist Church where he also volunteered with the Church Food Bank for 6 years. He loved the outdoors, playing with his pets especially his dog, Scooby Doo and doing woodworking.
Calling will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Leo United Methodist Church (13527 Leo Road, Leo, IN). A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at 10 am with calling one hour prior at the church. Pastor Ann Lantz will officiate. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Ft.
