Richard Lee O'Connor, 87, died Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born on July 20, 1936 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Otto Donald & Ruby June (Aughinbaugh) O'Connor.  He married Gloria Lee Herdman on September 26, 1964 in Huntertown, Indiana.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria O'Connor of Fort Wayne; son, Timothy (Jennifer) O'Connor of Wolcottville; daughter, Kathy (Scott) Mertz of Roanoke; grandchildren, Kyle (Kayla) O'Connor of Kendallville, Andrew (Kaitlyn) O'Connor of Spencerville, Chase Mertz of Roanoke and Mackenzie O'Connor of Fort Wayne; great grandson, Kody O'Connor; and a sister, Sandra (Robert) Lemon of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Theodore Donnelly.

Richard graduated from Central High School in 1954.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 499 in Fort Wayne.  He worked as an electrician for Slater Steel in Fort Wayne for over 35 years.  He loved to fish, play cards especially euchre and poker, watching sports and hanging out with his grandkids.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 11 am at Huntertown Cemetery.  Pastor Todd Hammond will officiate.
