Obituary

Raymond Pulver, Sr., 80, died Monday at his home in Leo, IN surrounded by his loving family, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was born in Leo to the late Carl & Beulah (Garman) Pulver.  He married Janice Feagler on January 9, 1960.

Surviving are his wife, Janice Pulver of Leo; sons, Ray (Kristine) Pulver, Jr. of Leo and Rob (Tamara) Pulver of Dwight, IL; son-in-law, Michael Lust of Phoenix, AZ; grandsons, Jon-Michael Lust of Tempe, AZ, Ian Lust of Leo, Jacob & Joshua Pulver of Leo and Owen & Wesley Pulver of Dwight, IL; brothers, George (Lela) Pulver of Leo and Jerry (Vonda) Pulver of Columbia City; sisters-in-law, Sharon Walchle of Ft. Wayne and Joan Teeple of Denver, CO; brother-in-law, Denny Burden (Terry Lang) of Ft. Wayne and many nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Pulver Lust; brother, Carl "Bud" Pulver and sisters, Velma (Jerry) Minnick & Joan (Don) Craig.

Ray attended Leo Schools and graduated from Ft. Wayne Central High School with the class of 1956.  He played semi-pro basketball, the highlight of which was playing as a substitute against the Harlem Globetrotters when several members of their traveling opponents, the Washington Generals, were sidelined by the flu.  He also enjoyed working on race cars with his brothers and shared great success with them at the Avilla Speedway.  He worked as a mechanic for Allen County Motors, International Harvester, and his own service stations in Leo and Harlan, IN.  He most recently provided mechanic services from his home garage before retiring in 2005.

He had the opportunity to coach his sons' little league and travel baseball teams for many seasons.  He enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports in his later years.  He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and his mornings with friends at the Leo Café.  His lawn was the jewel of the subdivision, and he enjoyed sharing tips with his neighbors.  He also attended Grabill Missionary Church in Grabill, IN.

Calling will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Grabill Missionary Church (13637 State Street Grabill, IN).  Services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11 am with calling one hour prior at the church with Pastor Gary Gates officiating.  Burial in Leo Memorial Park Cemetery, Leo, IN.

Memorials may be given to Grabill Missionary Church.
