Obituary

Raymond Rush Carnahan, 91, passed into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at his home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on November 26, 1933 in Jackson Township, DeKalb County, Indiana to the late Ray Franklin & Ida Mae (Timberlin) Carnahan.  He married Nanci Ann Houghton on June 6, 1955 at the Auburn Church of the Nazarene.  They were able to share 65 years together before Nanci passed on April 18, 2021.

Surviving are Daughters, Cheryl (Tony) Burton of Deep Gap, North Carolina, Christie Carnahan Whitton of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Son, Brian (Roberta) Carnahan of Spencerville, Indiana; Daughter-in-law, Sandy Carnahan of Auburn, Indiana; Son-in-law, Sam Whitton of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Carnahan of Auburn, Indiana, Adam (Kenzie) Carnahan of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Michael Burton and Dustin Burton both of Deep Gap, North Carolina, Robert Carnahan of Auburn, Indiana, Maggie Carnahan of Spencerville, Indiana and Nicholas Carnahan of Warsaw, Poland; Great Grandchildren, Caleb, Luke, Jade, Noah, Vinny, Emma, Ayrian, McKenna, Lily, Sophia, Asher, Zebulun, Tobias & Juniper; Sister, Opal Georgi of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Brother, Harry (Mary Ann) Carnahan of Grabill, Indiana and Sister-in-law, Sherry Carnahan of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by a Son, Jeffery Lynn Carnahan; Brothers & Sisters-in-law, Clifford & Frances Carnahan, Ralph & Jackie Carnahan and Jim Carnahan; Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law, John Robert Georgi, David & Barbara Houghton, James & Betty Houghton and Miriam Houghton.

Raymond worked at International Harvester in Department 29 until they left Fort Wayne.  He was a DeKalb County farmer and also a Real Estate Broker for many years.  He was a member of Gideons International – DeKalb County Camp, a member of Life Bridge Church, a 1952 graduate of Spencerville High School.  In his younger years he was known for helping his father with hides, fur and wool.  Raymond was a busy sheep shearer.  He & Nanci travelled extensively around the world and took over 12 cruises.  The last four years he enjoyed helping his daughter Christie in packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday (December 16th) at 10:00am at Life Bridge Church (12719 Corbin Road in Fort Wayne).  Pastors Bill & Grace Campbell will officiate.  Calling will be held at the church on Sunday (December 15th) from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and also 1 hour prior to the service on Monday.  Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn, Indiana.  Memorials may be given to Gideons International or Life Bridge Church – Missions.

The family wishes to thank Bright Star and Raymond's caregivers, Aquila, Lisa, KiMara, Deb, Sarah and Tracy for the loving care and devotion they showed to Dad.
