Patricia Mott , 92, passed away on August 12, 2018  in Fair Oaks, Virginia .  She was born on February 6, 1926 to the late Carl & Mary (Bollinger) Carpenter on the family farm outside of St. Joe, IN.  She graduated from Purdue University (where she met Kenneth - her husband of 61 years. "I chased him until he caught me." ) in 1948 with a degree in Home Economics Education.  She and Ken moved to the New York City area in 1951 and were residents of New City for more than 50 years.  She taught Home Economics and Psychology at Clarkstown North Senior High School where she was also the Cheerleader's Advisor and Senior Class Advisor before retiring after 28 years in 1996.  The students of the class of 1980 dedicated the yearbook to her and after retiring she was inducted into the Clarkstown Teachers Hall of Fame.  She was an avid "fabric artist" - making hundreds of dolls and quilts throughout her lifetime - and in 1992 she received a Masters degree in Folk Arts from New York University.  After retiring from Clarkstown North, she taught doll and quilt making to "her ladies" at Street School Senior Center and worked as a docent at Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate in Sleepy Hollow.

Surviving are her children, John (Janet) Mott of Charlottesville, VA, Patricia (Mike) Patmore of Lebanon, IN, David Mott of Springfield, VA and Timothy (Amanda) Mott of St. Paul, MN; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Mott, Lindsay (Andrew) Mott Rosti, Kevin (Rebecca) Mott, Luke Patmore, Parker Mott & Annalee Mott; 2 great grandchildren, London & Harper Rosti; brothers, Jon Carpenter of Spencerville, IN and Philip (Jane) Carpenter of St. Joe, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Mott and a sister-in-law, Carol Carpenter.

She was a wonderful woman and her family and friends shall miss her greatly .  In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or charity of your choice.



Kenneth R. Mott, 88, a resident of New City for over 50 years passed away on May 5, 2010 .  He was born on January 13, 1922 to the late Rev. Thurman & Letha Faye (Johnson) Mott in Valentine, IN.  He served as First Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 and flew 30 missions as co-pilot of a B-17 during which he received the Air Medal (with 4 Oak Leaf clusters) and the Distinguished Flying Cross.  He graduated from Purdue University in 1947 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He and Pat moved to the New York City area in 1951 where he worked as a consulting engineer with various Heating and Air Conditioning Companies until retiring in 1991.  He was a longstanding member of the New City United Methodist Church and served as trustee in previous years.  He was a former Worshipful Master of the Stony Point-Wawayanda Masonic Lodge and for many years was a member of The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing.  He was an avid fan of Purdue basketball (he retained his own accurage two-handed set-shot well into his later years) and football and made an annual family pilgrimage back to campus for a football game for many years.

Kenneth & Patricia were married for 61 years before his death in 2010.  Their cremains will be placed together and buried at Riverside Cemetery in St. Joe, IN with a private family graveside service on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
