Norma Jean Schmucker, 83, died Friday, June 18, 2021 at her home. She was born on June 16, 1938 in Fort Wayne, IN making her the oldest of 8 children to the late Homer & Maxine (Berberich) Frisby. She graduated from New Haven High School in 1956 and married John S. Schmucker on September 5, 1959 in Fort Wayne, IN and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Randy (Cindy) Schmucker of Spencerville; daughters, Cheri (Michael) Chambers of Punta Gorda, FL, Karen (Steve) Eck of Spencerville; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Cathy) Frisby of Port Charlotte, FL, Donald (Nancy) Frisby of Port Charlotte, FL, James Frisby of Cicero, IN, Thomas (Vicki) Frisby of Ft. Wayne; sisters, Betty Miller of Sun City, AZ and Connie Frisby of Peoria, AZ.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Schmucker; a brother, Richard Frisby and a sister, Carolyn Sue Frisby.
Norma was an excellent bookkeeper & co-owner of Schmucker Masonry and owned & operated Mom's Place in St. Joe, IN for many years. She was a member of North Leo Mennonite Church and loved spending time with her family. "She was our role model, loving sister, wife, mom, grandma & friend."
She loved to shop and was no stranger to finding a good deal. She enjoyed swimming, scrabble, making candies and listening to Johnny Cash. Her great personality made it easy for her to make people laugh and make each one feel special.
Ca lling will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 3-8 pm at Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home in Spencerville, IN. Service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 10:30 am with calling ½ hour before the service at Coburn Corners Church of Christ (6813 CR 64, St. Joe, IN.) with Pastor Lynn Hart officiating.
Burial will be at Yaggy Cemetery, Grabill, IN.
