Lynn E. Means, 79, died Saturday, September 16, 2023 at his home in rural Spencerville, Indiana. He was born on February 29, 1944 in Leo, Indiana to the late Howard Leroy Means & Lilian Eva (Kling) Means Dever. He married Nancy Jean (Saari) Bruck on June 1, 1981 in Defiance County, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Means of Spencerville; son, David (Susan) Means of Leo; daughter, Deborah Tester (Larry Cagley) of Butler; step-daughter, Jaime (Josh) Brunson of Fort Wayne; 4 grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Hudson of Auburn, Loren (Joie) Means of Fort Wayne, Lyle (Joan) Means of Fort Wayne, Joyce (Greg) Geise of Hamilton, Rita (Dewey) Gebo of Leo and Lowell "Bud" Means of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Gloyd; brother, Lloyd Means; brother-in-law, Phil Hudson; sister-in-law, Cheryl Means and an infant sister.
Lynn worked as a cureman at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, Indiana for 34 years. He grew up attending and was a member of Hopewell United Brethren Church, Auburn, Indiana and was a volunteer fireman for Grabill & Cedar Canyons Fire Departments for 37 years. He was also a former Fire Chief at Cedar Canyons and an EMT. In his earlier years, he owned & operated Means Body Shop in Grabill, Indiana. He was a huge collector of old phones, old cars, coins, Dale Earnhart & NASCAR memorabilia. He loved feeding the birds, being with his dog & spending time fishing with his grandchildren. He loved helping others and volunteering for his community.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 11 am at Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home, Spencerville, Indiana with Pastor Ryan Koch officiating. Memorials may be given to the Allen County SPCA - 4914 South Hanna Street Fort Wayne, Indiana 46806.
