Lucille Richmond of Harlan, will be celebrating her 101st birthday in Heaven on February 21st. She died at home on February 7, 2018. Born in Scipio Township, she was a homemaker and devoted, active member of the Harlan United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 50 years. "She was an endearing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all. She lived her life to the fullest and filled it with family, church, books, The Bible, gardening, current events, IU basketball and helping others."
Survivors include daughter, Marquita (Don) Hertig and son, Rex Richmond (Sharon Freibuger - recently deceased) of Harlan. Grandson, Rick (Cathy) Hertig of Harlan; granddaughter, Kimberly (Kirk) Davis of Leo; and five great grandsons, Nathan (Sarah), Adam (Brittany), Andrew (Kaley) Hertig, Kody & Carter Davis; and great great grandchildren, Lucas, Liam, Mia, Fletcher, Olivia and Miller Hertig. Also surviving are sisters, Rosemary Mettert of Ft. Wayne, Crystal DuWan of Harlan, Sandra Martin of New Hampshire, and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom & Grace Mettert; husband, Darrell Richmond; brother, Jack Mettert; and sisters, Margaret Moss and Ione "Toni" Henry.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Harlan United Methodist Church (16434 SR 37 Harlan IN) at 4 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2018 with visitation from 2-4 pm. Burial will be in Scipio Cemetery, Harlan, IN. Memorials to the Harlan United Methodist Church.
