LaVern Lengacher, 78, died Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born on January 24, 1943 in New Haven, IN to the late Rudy & Anna Irene (Miller) Lengacher.  He married Mary Hochstetler on December 31, 1968 in Ft. Wayne, IN.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lengacher of Jamestown, PA; 4 sons, Steven (Miriam) Lengacher of Jamestown, PA, Larry (Naomi) Lengacher of Transfer, PA, Lyle (Barbara) Lengacher of Reedsville, WI and Alan (Abbey) Lengacher of Weatherford, TX; 2 daughters, Sharon (Willis) Coblentz of Carrier Mills, IL and Lisa (Aaron) Hershberger of Townville, PA; 32 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Reuben (Rose) Lengacher of Grabill, Enos Lengacher of Spencerville, Rudy (Delilah) Lengacher of Grabill, Menno (Emma) Lengacher of Grabill, Alvin (Marilyn) Lengacher of New Haven; sisters, Edna (Joe) Graber of New Haven, Margaret (Ben) Lapp of New Holland, PA and Anna Mae (Dave) Schmucker of Grabill and a sister-in-law, Ruby Lengacher of Grabill.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Lengacher; sister, Amanda Lengacher; brother-in-law, Eugene Eicher and sister-in-law, Kathryn Lengacher.

LaVern worked as a self-employed farmer for years and also at Sparty Wood Products in Spartansburg, PA and Greenhill Farms in Cambridge Springs, PA.  For the last 10 years he was living in the Shipshewana area and ran a van rental/taxi service for the Amish.

Calling will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 3-7 pm at Fellowship Haven Church (9115 Brush College Road Woodburn, IN).  Calling will also be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Community Building (50 S. Maysville Road Greenville, PA).  Services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 9:30 am at the Community Building in Greenville, PA with Bishop Marcus Mast officiating.  Burial will take place in Meadow Valley Cemetery in Greenville, PA.
