James Leroy Miller, 79, died Monday, October 23, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, IN.  He was born on June 6, 1944 in Allen County, IN to the late Noah & Rosanna (Yoder) Miller.  He married Bette Jean Miller on August 21, 1971 in Grabill, IN.

Surviving are his wife, Bette J. Miller of Ft. Wayne; children, David (Caroline) Miller of Woodburn, Darlene (Gary) Schwartz of Woodburn, Ron (Donna) Miller of Ft. Wayne; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Jesse (Joyce) Miller of Ft. Wayne, Ed (Carol) Miller of Spencerville and Robert (Myreya) Miller of Sarasota, FL.  He was preceded in death by a sister & brother-in-law, Doris & Edward Hochstetler.

James spent his life as a pastor, farmer, and construction worker.  He was ordained as pastor at Cuba Mennonite Church in Harlan, IN in 1972 and ministered there for over 50 years.  He preached his final two sermons in summer 2023 on the subjects of Heaven and Hell.  He loved the Lord, and his greatest desire was that others would love Him as well and be prepared for eternity.  He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, going on an occasional fishing trip, and farming with his son and grandsons.

Calling will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 1-3 & 6-8 pm at Cuba Mennonite Church (10835 Cuba Road Harlan, IN).  Services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10 am at Allen County Christian Fellowship (9735 Thimler Road New Haven, IN) with Ron Miller officiating.  Burial in Yaggy Cemetery, Grabill, IN.
