Ivan Leon "Murph" Murphy, 93, died Monday, April 21, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, IN.  He was born in Fairfield, IL on December 29, 1931 to the late Ivan C. & Agnes L. (Vaughn) Murphy.  He married Barbara C. (Turner) Fitzsimmons in Hillsborough County, FL on March 17, 1982.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Murphy of Ft. Wayne; daughter, Karen (Tim) Cade of Laurel; step-daughters, Kathy (David) Brown of Ft. Wayne, Linda Hines of Anderson; step-sons, Mark Fitzsimmons of Anderson and Michael Fitzsimmons of Florida; grandson, Joshua (Meg) Cade of New Palestine; step-grandsons, Douglas (Cassie) Brown, Nicholas Hines, Christopher Hines; step-granddaughter, Melissa (Andy) Price; great grandchildren, Evan & Eli Cade, Kaitlyn Brown, Paizley, MacKenzie & Aralee Price and Aubrey Hines.

He was preceded in death by a step daughter-in-law, Vickie Fitzsimmons.

He graduated from Anderson High School in Anderson, IN in 1950.  He retired from the Anderson Police Department, was head of security at Anderson University, President of Security Engineering, worked security at Lakeland Regional Hospital and at the Anderson Speedway.  He was a member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge, the Chiefs Police Organization, the Murat Shrine in Indianapolis and the Anderson Shrine.  He loved to travel and was a Navy veteran.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 12 noon at the Harlan Christian Church (17108 SR 37 Harlan, IN).
