Rev. Herman Heine, 95, died Monday at Lutheran Life Village in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was born in Auburn, IN to the late Herbert & Margaret (Schlup) Heine. He married Virginia Yergens on June 27, 1943 in Ft. Wayne, IN and she preceded him in death on January 3, 2002.
Surviving are a son, Mark (Sharlene) Heine of Rome City, IN; a daughter, Holly (Bruce) Hamman of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren - Jennifer (Michael) Neff, Mark Heine II, Matthew (Roxanna) Heine and Laura Heine; 8 great grandchildren and a sister, Lila (John) Miller of Grosse Pointe Park, MI. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Evelyn Zirzow & Margaret McKechnie and 1 brother, Ralph Heine.
Herm was a Lutheran minister who presided over many churches including Zion Lutheran in Ft. Wayne, St. John Lutheran in Kendallville and he retired in 1981 from Bethany Lutheran in Leesburg, FL. He was a member of the Kendallville Kiwanis and was very involved in many community activities.
Calling will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6-8 pm in the Memorial Chapel at Lutheran Life Village (6701 S. Anthony Blvd., Ft. Wayne, IN). Services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2 pm in the Chapel with calling from 12:30 pm till time of service. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Ft. Wayne.
