Frederick R. Johnson, 89, passed peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2019 at home in the care of his wife of 54 years. "He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather." Born July 10, 1929 in Jersey City, N. J., he was the son of the late Frederick R. Johnson II and Lillian (Enderlein) Johnson.  He married Linnea (Wagner) Johnson on December 19, 1964 in Ft. Wayne.  He served as a Corporal in the U. S. Army. Prior to his service, he studied cosmetology and hair design in New York City and after his return, he worked as a hairdresser at Wolf & Dessauer and then had successful beauty salons in Ft. Wayne for many years.  Fred enjoyed people, and they enjoyed him.  He had an easy way about him that people loved.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, working outside and having building projects.  He was fun loving, kind and thoughtful to all and was a man of faith and drew great strength from his Grace Gathering Church family.

Surviving are his wife, Linnea Johnson of Ft. Wayne; children, Melissa K. (David) Heaney of San Diego, CA, Michael P Johnson of Beilvue, NV, Melinda L. (Jim) Williams of Mobile, AL, Bruce T. (Honor Dixon) Johnson of Ft. Wayne and Christopher D. (Joanna Spindler) Johnson of Denver, CO; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Grace Gathering (3157 Minnich Road New Haven, IN 46774) with visitation from 2-3 pm at the church.
