Obituary

Edwin Merle Coburn, 94, formerly of St. Joe, IN died Friday at Golden Years Assisted Living in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born in DeKalb County, IN to the late Floyd J. & Opal Vern (Miller) Coburn. He married Ruth Garnell Keller on June 24, 1944 at Coburn Corners Church of Christ. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2014.

Surviving are a son, Roger (Rhonda) Coburn of St. Joe; a daughter, Patricia (James) Platner of St. Joe; 6 grandchildren - Rebecca Bonta, Christine Musselman, Lydia Bender, Jonathan Platner, Rachel Laycock and Caleb Kruger; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nyla Jean Coburn; a daughter, Marcia Kruger and two granddaughters, Stacey Coburn & Sonya Kruger.

Edwin worked 39 years in he Specialty Motors Lab at General Electric and was a member of the Coburn Corners Church of Christ. He loved restoring vehicles including a 1927 Franklin Car & a 1936 Silver King Tractor. He loved music especially playing his violin and dulcimers; loved to tinker and spend time in the shop.

Calling will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 10-11:30 am at Coburn Corners Church of Christ (6813 CR 64 St. Joe, IN). Services will be he on Tuesday at 11:30 am at the church with James C. Platner, his son-in-law officiating. Burial will take place in Alton Cemetery, St. Joe, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be given to Golden Years Homestead Benevolent Fund - 8300 Maysville Road Ft. Wayne, IN 46815 or Heartland Hospice - 1315 Directors Row Suite 210 Ft. Wayne, IN 46808.
