Edward Schwartz, Jr., 104, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Kingston at Dupont in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on May 3, 1920 in Kansas, Illinois to the late Edward T. & Effie J. (Kemper) Schwartz Sr. He married Ruth Bernice (Karns) Schwartz on October 12, 1941 in Graysville, Indiana. They enjoyed 74 years of marriage before Ruth passed away on March 9, 2016.
Surviving are his Son, David (Ann) Schwartz of Columbia, South Carolina; Daughters, Julie Glick of Grabill, Indiana & Marilynn (Earl) Toops of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Grandchildren, Regina Glick Stephenson (Jason) of Newburgh, Indiana, Rebecca Glick Ward (Paul) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Gwen Toops Williams (Don) of Arlington, Virginia, Emily Toops Oxendahl (Tim) of Portland, Oregon, William Schwartz of Garland, Texas & Katy Schwartz of Columbia, South Carolina and 5 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Fairy Shoot, Forrest Schwartz, Leo Schwartz, Helen Schwartz, Joyce Duckworth and a son-in-law, Donald Glick.
Edward worked as a teacher at Monticello High School, in Monticello, Illinois. And also, as a chemist for Biobin. He loved camping and was a volunteer camp host for many of the national parks in Colorado. He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and attended Leo Methodist Church in his later years. He was a 75 year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Leo Methodist Church (13527 Leo Road in Leo, Indiana) at 11:00am with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Calling will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial in Ashmore Cemetery in Ashmore, Illinois.
