Donald L. Glick, 72, died Thursday, February 4, 2021 at his home in Grabill, IN. He was born on August 17, 1948 in Christopher, IL to the late Douglas D. Glick & Freida (Huppert) Glick Taylor. He married Julie Louise Schwartz on June 27, 1970 in Monticello, IL.
Don graduated from the University of Illinois with Phi Beta Kappa & Phi Kappa Phi honors in 1970, majoring in Actuary Science with a minor in Finance. Don and Julie moved to Ft. Belvoir, VA for a 3-year term in the Army. After the military, he started his career as an actuary in Chicago working for CNA and then Golden Rule Insurance in Lawrenceville, IL before changing career paths to become a professor at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN in 1982, helping to start the computer science program. After 14 years at IWU, Don & Julie moved to Ft. Wayne when he joined Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co. as an actuary, where his effort and creative mind earned him a U. S. Patent. He retired in 2012 but continued to consult on a variety of projects.
Don was an active member of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, volunteering in the bus ministry, the maintenance & mowing crew, and a member of the Truthseekers Sunday School class. He loved the Lord and loved to sing in church. Don was active in beekeeping and a member of the NE Indiana Beekeepers Association, a member of the Amateur Radio Club (K9LI), a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and had a brilliant mind, always learning and able to fix anything.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Julie; daughters, Regina (Jason) Stephenson of Newburgh, IN and Rebecca (Paul) Ward of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Madelyn and Regan Stephenson of Newburgh, IN and Breanna, Ashley and Joshua Ward of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother, Harold (Janet) Glick of Peoria, AZ; step-brother, Zach (Philippa) Taylor of Del Valle, TX; father-in-law, Edward Schwartz of Leo, IN; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Marilynn & E. Earl Troops of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, David & Ann Schwartz of Garland, TX; 4 nieces and a nephew.
Calling will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene (8611 Mayhew Road Ft. Wayne, IN). Services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11 am with calling one hour prior at the church with Pastor Rex Parson officiating.
