Dan Lynch, 67, died Sunday at St. Joe Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born in Ft. Wayne, IN and was raised in northwestern Indiana.

He is survived by the lights of his life, son, Kelly Christian Lynch of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Anna Lauren Lynch of Mainz, Germany; former spouse, Janet (Hitzeman) Lynch of Spencerville, IN; his biological mother, Theodora Jean Boyer; half-brothers, Keith Winters, Steven Winters, Jim Winters, and Don Winters; and half-sister, Donna Lee McCrea. He was preceded in death by his beloved adopted parents, Lawrence & Alice (Murray) Lynch.

Dan was a prolific nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist whose career spanned three decades, beginning in college at Western Kentucky in Bowling Green and Indiana University in Bloomington, followed by years of service at the Kansas City Times and the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette. His cartoons appeared in Time and Newsweek, as well as in hundreds of newspapers around the country. He was a gifted artist, musician and writer, who authored two books. He also had a life-long passion for steam locomotives and railroads and served as past president of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 2 pm at Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home, Spencerville, IN with Terry Anderson officiating. Visitation with family will be held from 12 noon till time of service.
