Connie Miles, 84, passed away on Saturday at Golden Years Homestead in Ft. Wayne, IN. She was born in St. Joe, IN to the late Walter H. & Hannah Ellen (Van Meter) Stewart. Her first marriage was to Jack Hollabaugh and he preceded her in death on September 1, 1968. Her second marriage was to Garl Miles on December 24, 1978 in Leo United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Garl of Florida; sons, Tim (Beth) Hollabaugh of Bryan, OH, Tom (Debbie) Hollabaugh of Butler, IN; daughter, Beth (Jeff) Freidenberger of Auburn, IN; step sons, Terrance W. (Shareen) Miles of Charleston, SC, Timothy G. (Laura Jo) Miles of Tuscon, AZ; step daughter, Tamarah L. Cope of Louisville, KY; 13 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Markle of Spencerville, IN.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Jim & Walter Stewart and sisters, Anne Miller, Mary Rectenwall, Edith Onstott, Audra Michael, Cora Clark and Gladys Akey.
Connie worked as DeKalb County Commissioner for 12 years, DeKalb County Auditor for 8 years, and at Vulcraft for 14 years. She was on the DeKalb County Eastern School Board for 8 years. She was a member of the DeKalb County Republican Women, DeKalb County Republican Central Committee, St. Joe Church of Christ and the Spencerville Community Club.
Calling will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 4-8 pm at St. Joe Church of Christ (508 Jefferson St. St. Joe, IN 46785). Services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11 am with calling one hour prior at the church. Burial in White City Cemetery, Spencerville, IN.
