Ferne Gerig, 80, passed away on Tuesday at The Cedars with all her loving family by her side.  She will be deeply missed, but we can rejoice knowing that she is now with her Heavenly Savior.  She was born in Nappanee, IN to the late William & Mary (Miller) Yoder.  She married Ezra M. Gerig on December 21, 1957 at Cuba Mennonite Church in Harlan and they celebrated 60 years of marriage together.

Surviving are her husband, Ezra of Harlan; children, Rod (Deb) Gerig of Harlan, Regina (Steve) Miller of Leo and Rick (Linda) Gerig of Spencerville; grandchildren, Megan (Brad) Foutz, Amanda Gerig, Alicia (Tyler) Johnson, Austin Miller (Ashley Schafer), Ryan (Charity) Gerig, Jenna (Derek) Rode, Dane (Sarah) Gerig; great grandchildren, Riah, Ryne, Ryker & Rose Johnson, Kelsey & Kyle Gerig, Weston & Cade Rode; brothers, L. Michael Yoder, Steve (Diane) Yoder, Gerard (Rhoda) Nissley, Robert (Janelle) Nissley, and John (Lois) Nissley; sisters, Mary Eicher, Roseanne (C. Duane) Yoder, Louis (Art) Good and Lynda (Darrell) Miller; and a friend that was like a sister, Alma Stutzman.  She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 1 sister & 2 grandsons.

She was a gracious Hostess, an excellent cook, loving wife & mother.  Her grandchildren meant so much to her and she prayed for each by name daily.  Her past times included quilting, baking, canning, fishing, gardening, and entertaining others in her home.

Calling will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 1-4 & 5-7 pm at Central Ministries (Door 4 - 5801 Schwartz Road, Ft. Wayne).  Services will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 2 pm at the church (Door 6) with a private burial at 1 pm in Yaggy Cemetery, Grabill, IN.  Pastor Don Delagrance officiating.
