Charles L.
Nelson
Jun 1, 1952 — Jan 27, 2024
Angola
Charles L. Nelson, 71, died Saturday, January 27, 2024 at his home. He was born on June 1, 1952 in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late Charles J. & Olive (Gillman) Nelson. He married Kay D. (Bassett) Ross Nelson on November 3, 1979 in Howe, IN.
Surviving are his wife, Kay D. Nelson of Angola; daughter, Amanda (Charles) Nelson Beattie of Fremont; granddaughters, Lillian Beattie, Jasmine Nelson and Violet Beattie. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Christopher B. Ross; sister & brother-in-law, Charlene (Thomas) Cochran and a sister, Betty Nelson.
Charles was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, PAPA, and an Honorable Disabled Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran. He wasn't drafted to go to Vietnam but volunteered his life to save many lives he wouldn't know. He served in the United States military with great pride and dignity. After serving in the military, he spent his time being a self-employed semi-truck driver. He loved traveling, making new friends and making vacation memories while driving truck.
Charles was known by many as "Chuck" and he had the love for street rods, semis, boats, motorcycles, tinkering in the garage and putting together models. If you didn't find him at home on the weekends, it was because he and Kay would take off and go to car shows, do some travelling, go camping or just go and see family and enjoy being love birds during their time away.
Chuck loved his wife, Kay, very much. She is and always will be his world. November 3rd, 1979 was an amazing blessing for Chuck and Kay to unite as one. Their love for one another was an unbelievable bond forever. He was her teddy bear and rock. He loved his daughter, Amanda, very much also. From the time she was born to eternity she was always a "Daddy's Girl". From his first daddy's whistle to daddy's tickly mustache to his giant bear hugs, he won her heart just like he did with Kay.
Charles (aka PAPA) loved his beautiful granddaughters, Lillian Beattie (Lily) who is 15. Jasmine Nelson (Jazzy) who is 11 and Violet Rose Beattie (Vivi) who is 9. He leaves behind also two special fur babies, Maggie and Sammie who he loved dearly. He will be forever missed in our hearts. "We love you!"
Per his wishes, there will be no calling or services at this time. A Memorial Service will be held on June 1, 2024 on his 72nd birthday. For more information on the service, please contact Amanda (his daughter) at 260-319-1649.
