Carolyn R. Hudson, 87, died Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Auburn Village in Auburn, IN. She was born on September 14, 1937 in DeKalb County, IN to the late Howard L. & Lilian (Kling) Means. Her first marriage was to Jack Shaffer which they had 3 children. Her second marriage was to Phillip R. Hudson on May 16, 1987 in Hopewell United Brethren Church. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2019.
Surviving are her children, Randy Shaffer of Auburn, Ricky (Katelyn) Shaffer of Visalia, CA, Robin Lansford of Porterville, CA; step-daughter, Tammy Hoskins of FL; granddaughter, Whitnee (Keegan) Bosch of Las Vegas, NV; step-grandson, Jason (Ashley) Southern of Ft. Wayne; great grandchildren, Kolten & Westen Bosch, C. D. Shaffer, Chloe M. Roman; siblings, Loren (Joie) Means of Ft. Wayne, Lyle (Joan) Means of Ft. Wayne, Lowell "Bud" Means of Ft. Wayne, Joyce (Greg) Geise of Hamilton, Rita Gebo of Leo; sister-in-law, Nancy Means of Ft. Wayne and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister; brothers, Lloyd & Lynn Means; brother-in-law, Dewey Gebo; sister-in-law, Cheryl Means; nephews, Ryan Means, Jared A. Means & Jeffrey L. Gloyd; niece, Laura Means; step-son, Tony Hudson; grandson, Shawn D. Shaffer and a step son-in-law, Rod Hoskins.
She worked as an eligibility worker & supervisor for the Tulare County Welfare Department in California and then as a biller/collector for DeKalb Hospital in Auburn, IN where she retired after 20 years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Auburn, IN and also was the Past President of the Tulare County Employees Association in California. She was a member of Hopewell United Brethren Church in Auburn, IN.
She loved to read, work in her flower beds, watch NASCAR and was an avid sports fan.
Friends & family may gather on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 10-11 am at Hopewell United Brethren Church (6852 CR 35 Auburn, IN). A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 am at the church with Pastor Ryan Koch offiiciating.
