It is with deepest sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Bonnie Lou (Byroads) Ely, 86, on May 30, 2025.  Bonnie was born to the late Homer Dennis & Anna Cyrene (Erman) Byroads on March 8, 1939 in Bryan, Ohio.  She resided at her home in Harlan, Indiana where she lived till her death.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Ely, Sr. on March 19, 1996.  She is survived by her only daughter, Gloria Ann (Kevin) Geise; her step-sons, Rob (Renee) Ely and John (Becky) Ely.  She was a proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Byroads.

Bonnie retired from Weatherhead/Dana in Antwerp, Ohio.  She loved eating out with her girlfriends, telling colorful stores and shopping. She was a collector of all things and especially loved all animals.  In her earlier years, she liked to can vegetables from the garden and drive her T Bucket Hot Rod in the Harlan parade.  She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Graveside services will be held on 1 pm Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Harlan Memorial Cemetery (11450 Roberts Road Harlan, IN).  Pastor Catherine Koziatek will officiate.

Memorials may be given to Parkview Home Health & Hospice or the Allen County SPCA in her memory.
